“The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV)
Has someone ever sung to you—perhaps a parent when you were a child or someone who loved you as an adult? When my husband and I were dating, he would sing little songs he wrote about our relationship or me. Sweetly holding hands or looking in each other’s eyes, it was a moment of shared love. Yet I know there are many people who have not been treasured and loved in such a way, at least on earth. But actually, we all have been sung over.
I love how the verse above describes God rejoicing over us with singing. Can you imagine being cradled in God’s arms while He gently sings to you? Perhaps you are afraid and His song is to give you peace. Maybe you are brokenhearted and He sings songs of His unfailing love for you and that He will always be there for you. Possibly you said no to a temptation and remained faithful to God that day, and He shouts songs of joy and praise over you and your decision.
Whatever your day has been, remember God’s incredible love that causes Him to sing over you.
